About this tool

Photo Collage is a browser-based tool for combining 2–20 photos into one image. It suggests layouts using the actual aspect ratios of the imported pictures, so you do not have to build every frame from a blank canvas. Pick a suggested arrangement, then use More layouts to browse other candidates when available.

You can reorder pictures, emphasize one photo, and adjust its crop position, zoom and Fill/Fit mode. Finish by choosing canvas ratio, spacing, outer margins, background and rounded corners, then export as JPEG, PNG or WebP where supported. Photo decoding, editing and encoding are performed inside the browser; uploaded source images are not sent to an external conversion server.

Good for

  • Combine travel or event pictures into one image to share in messages or on social media
  • Find a usable layout for a mix of portrait and landscape photos without manually building a grid
  • Place several product or process photos in a single image with consistent margins, background and aspect ratio
  • Create a photo collage on your device without sending individual pictures to a cloud service

What it can do

Key capabilities available in this tool.

How to use

  1. Open Photo Collage and add 2–20 JPEG, PNG or WebP photos. Drag and drop is also available on desktop.
  2. Choose a Suggested layout. If more candidates are available, select More layouts to try another arrangement.
  3. Reorder photos using the drag handle or move buttons, and optionally mark one photo as featured to make it larger.
  4. Check each image's framing and adjust Fill/Fit, crop position and 1–3× zoom. Reset only the selected photo's adjustment if needed.
  5. Under Finish, set canvas ratio (4:3 by default), photo spacing, outer margin, background and rounded corners. Choose PNG for transparent output.
  6. Under Save, select JPEG, PNG or supported WebP output, choose long-edge size, quality and filename, then save the image.

Supported

  • Input: 2–20 JPEG, PNG or WebP photos per collage, with suggested layouts informed by picture aspect ratios.
  • Editing: Reorder, switch layouts, feature a photo, Fill/Fit, crop placement, 1–3× zoom and reset the selected photo's adjustment.
  • Finishing: 4:3 by default, plus 1:1, 4:5, 9:16, 16:9, 3:2 and custom ratios from 1:10 to 10:1; margins, gaps, backgrounds and rounded corners.
  • Export: JPEG, PNG or WebP at 1080/2160/4096 px on the long edge or a custom size; maximum 8192 px per edge and 32 megapixels.
  • Environment: Desktop and mobile, Japanese/English, up to 50 undo/redo operations and a self-contained single-HTML distribution.

Limitations and notes

  • At least two photos are needed. Only 2–20 JPEG, PNG or WebP inputs are supported; HEIC/HEIF and PDFs are not officially supported.
  • Free-angle rotation, fully free positioning, adding text/stickers, filters and background removal are not included.
  • WebP output needs browser Canvas WebP encoder support. Use PNG for transparency; JPEG is flattened against the chosen background.
  • Very large source images or high-resolution exports may exceed device memory. Output is limited to 8192 px per side and 32 MP total.
  • Photos and the current editing session are not autosaved. Save the finished collage before reloading or closing the tab.
  • The output is newly encoded from Canvas. Source EXIF, GPS, camera metadata and original filenames are not copied into the collage; do not rely on preserving original photo metadata.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make a collage using just my phone?

Yes. The mobile interface has Photos, Layout, Finish and Save screens for combining 2–20 JPEG, PNG or WebP images.

Can I mix portrait and landscape photos?

Yes. Layout suggestions consider each photo's aspect ratio, and you can adjust position, zoom and Fill/Fit per picture.

Can I export a collage with a transparent background?

PNG supports transparent output. JPEG flattens to the selected background, and WebP encoding depends on browser support.

Are my pictures uploaded to a server?

No. Image decoding, layout calculations, edits and export are performed in your browser, and the app does not upload your pictures for processing.

Can I resume an unfinished collage later?

No automatic project saving is available. Reloading or closing the page discards the editing session, so download the completed collage.

Offline version and source code

photo-collage.html is a standalone HTML containing the code needed to import, arrange, edit and export JPEG/PNG/WebP collages. Open a saved copy directly in a compatible browser to use it without a runtime CDN or external image-processing API. The working photos and edits are not automatically saved.
