About this tool

Music Cue Pad is a browser-based cue player for registering multiple audio files and triggering the sound or track you need from large numbered buttons. Each cue can have its own display name, Start / End range, volume, Fade In / Fade Out, Loop setting, and trigger shortcut.

A playback-only view hides editing controls and keeps quick actions such as Pause / Resume, Restart, Fade Stop, immediate Stop, and remaining time close at hand. Audio and board settings can be stored in the browser, backed up as an editable .bkcue file, or exported as a self-contained playback-only HTML file with the referenced audio embedded. Selected audio is not uploaded to Browser Kitty.

How to use

  1. Choose one or more audio files, or add them by drag and drop on desktop.
  2. Press a numbered cue button to play it, and rename the cue if needed.
  3. Open cue editing to set the Start / End range, cue volume, Fade In / Fade Out, Loop, and an optional trigger shortcut.
  4. Drag the cue cards into the order you want to use during playback.
  5. For live use, switch to the playback-only view and use Master volume, Pause / Resume, Restart, Fade Stop, and Stop as needed.
  6. Keep the editable board in browser storage or export .bkcue; export playback HTML when you only need to hand off the prepared player.

Supported

  • Input: MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG/Opus, WebM audio, FLAC, and other formats supported by the browser and operating system.
  • Cue settings: Start / End, cue volume, Fade In / Fade Out, Loop, and an optional 0-9 / A-Z trigger shortcut.
  • Playback controls: switch cues, Pause / Resume, Restart, Fade Stop, immediate Stop, Master volume, and remaining-time display.
  • Storage: automatically save audio and settings in IndexedDB, with editable .bkcue export and import.
  • Playback HTML: export the current cue settings and referenced audio as one self-contained HTML file. The app asks for confirmation above 100 MiB of source audio and blocks playback-HTML export above 250 MiB.

Limitations and notes

  • Playable audio codecs vary by browser and operating system. A familiar extension does not guarantee that the internal codec can be decoded.
  • Screen Wake Lock and Fullscreen depend on browser support and may require a secure context or user gesture.
  • Background playback while the screen is locked or the tab is suspended depends on browser and operating-system behavior.
  • The app accepts individual files up to 2 GiB by contract, but practical limits can be lower on phones because of memory and IndexedDB quota.
  • Music Cue Pad is a cue player, not a multitrack DAW, and it does not modify the original audio files.

Frequently asked questions

Are my audio files uploaded to a server?

No. Loading audio, editing cues, playback, local storage, backup, and playback-HTML generation run in the browser. The app also uses a runtime CSP with connect-src 'none' and has no runtime CDN, analytics, or telemetry.

Can I play only part of a track?

Yes. Set Start and End per cue using the two-handle playback-range control or exact time fields. Enabling Loop repeats only that configured range.

Can I move a cue board to another device?

Yes. Export .bkcue when you want to continue editing on another device. If editing is not needed, export a playback-only HTML file with the referenced audio embedded.

Does it modify the original audio files?

No. Start / End, volume, fades, Loop, and other settings are stored as cue settings; the original audio files are not modified.

Offline version and source code

GitHub provides a self-contained single-HTML build with the required UI and JavaScript embedded. Open the saved HTML directly to add audio, edit cues, play, store the board locally, and use .bkcue backups without runtime network access. Playback-HTML export can also embed the referenced audio into the generated file.
